System & software architecture

Any architect needs to feel at home in your project as a spider in its web. To stick to that parallel a little longer, it takes:

Dolphin Engineering has lived inside R&D departments most of the time, and combines structured ways of working (CMM) with known modelling techniques such as UML to get the picture across.

Embedded system development

It's often hard for companies to find people capable of development-beyond-software. Dolphin Engineering's system development services incorporate not just (embedded) software, but the other system components around it.

Having lived inside the R&D departments of several bigger companies, Dolphin Engineering has a firm grasp of what it takes to get a system right, in time and within budget — including several multi-million-dollar projects integrating components into a customer's core business.

Software engineering

Software engineering has been Dolphin Engineering's long term main activity. Given the number of years of experience, the specific language or platform rarely matters — the range runs from laser-mouse firmware assembly to C#.

The same flexibility applies to the way of working: from CMM3 and classic project planning through to agile/SCRUM environments, and to testing methods ranging from "testing at the customer" to "every component has component tests."

Second opinion

Outsourcing is part of the game, and value for money is what everyone aims for. Even when your software supplier seems to be the right choice, there are moments where a second opinion is worth having — to check whether it's really as good as it looks.

Dolphin Engineering has worked in and on multi-site soft- and hardware development, and has seen software-quality standards ranging from CMM level 5 all the way to unstructured and unreadable gibberish.
